Marriage

I Believe:

Marriage is a contract either verbal or in writing that says some number of people will stay together until they die.  Today more than 50% of all marriages end in divorce so the Defence of Marriage Act should really be about stopping divorce and not about stopping loving people getting together.  Marriage is a way to protect children until they are able to take care of themselves period.  If children were born completely able to take care of themselves then there would be no need for marriage.

Changing the name of marriage to a domestic partnership is just a smoke screen.  If a domestic partnership has exactly the same rights as a marriage than it is a marriage.  A Rose is a Rose.

It does not matter if you believe god said"Be fruitful and multiply" or if you believe in evolution and "the survival of the fittest."  Marriage is to protect children biological or adopted.

So whether marriage is between a man and a women or a man and a man or a woman and a woman or multiple partners if it is what is best for the children in that situation then it should be allowed.

For my family marriage is between a man and a woman to protect and cherish our twin adopted daughters.

Your family may be different.

  1. Amen, Brother Larry! Frankly, there should be no "Defense of Marriage" act at all, because the government has no business being involved in marriage. Period.

I find it highly ironic that a political party that preaches less government sees fit to have that very government intrude in the most personal of decisions.
